Gulf States results
Although GSACC is discontinuing participation in Gulf States competitions, there are some remaining results to present from the end of 2011.
First, here are our scores for the October 2011 Pictorial Projected category. This category was judged by the Oklahoma Camera Club. None of these images placed. Scores are listed alphabetically by the maker’s last name.
Sleeping Calvaryman, by Stan Andrews, 12 points
Painted Bunting, by Steve Richter, 13 points
Pocket Full of Roses, by John Rudolph, 10 points
No One Cares, by Denise Willems, 10 points
The top two images in this category scored 14 points. The remaining images that placed had 13 points. While Steve Richter’s image did not officially place, it was listed as “1st alternate” after the 2nd HM image. Another image that scored 13 points was listed as “2nd alternate.” I have never seen “1st alternate” or “2nd alternate” listed on any other score sheets from Gulf States. It appears that perhaps the Oklahoma Camera Club decided to recognize all images that scored 13 points instead of trying to break a tie. Although Steve’s image didn’t officially place, he deserves our congratulations.
Next, here are our scores for the October 2011 Photojournalism Projected category. Photography Enthusiasts of El Paso judged this category. None of these images placed. Scores are listed alphabetically by the maker’s last name.
Comin’ Thru, by Dick Boone, 9 points
Roller Derby Queen, by Kimberly Clark, 6 points
Don’t Lick Me, by Cathy Hood, 5 points
In Memory, by Gerald Jendrusch, 7 points
The 1st-place image in this division had 14 points. All remaining images that placed scored 12 points.
Finally, here are our scores for the November 2011 Nature Projected category. This division was judged by the Houston Photochrome Club. None of our images placed. Scores are listed alphabetically by the maker’s last name.
Ladder-backed Woodpecker, by Dick Boone, 10 points
Swooping Squirrel, by Kimberly Clark, 10 points
Looking Up at the Colors of Fall, by Jenny Fowler, 10 points
Gallardias, by Cathy Hood, 9 points
The top three images in this division scored 14 points. Both HM images had 13 points.
