Rules and Regulations for the Photo Shootout on March 26, 2011:

    1. The contest will be held on Saturday, March 26, in and around Goliad, Texas.
    2. Images eligible for the competition must be taken by members of each club on the day of the competition. Each participant may take an unlimited number of images of each subject. However, they may enter only one image of each subject in his/hers club’s competition.
    3. All images must be taken on March 26, 2011. There is no hourly time constraint, enabling the creation of fewer “flat light” images during midday, and can include sunrise or night exposures.
    4. Images may be captured either digitally or with slide film. The final images submitted by each club for the final competition that is judged by a neutral club will need to be in digital format. This would require the scanning of any of the top images on a subject which are slides. There will NOT be a separate slide competition.
    5. Each club will select two entries for each subject from all of the images submitted for that subject by its participants. In general, each participant must have at least one image included in the club’s final selection. However, if a person submits five or fewer images (that is, does not fully participate), his/her club may elect (but is not required to elect) not to include any of that photographer’s images in its final selection.
    6. Black and white images are acceptable and will be judged together with other color images of that subject (not as a separate class).
    7. Projected digital images must be sized not to exceed either 1024 pixels horizontally or 768 pixels vertically and should be saved in jpeg format at any jpeg quality level.
    8. Each subject will be identified with a letter and each participant should be assigned a number by his club — between 100-149 for the Greater San Antonio Camera Club and between 150-199 for the Houston Camera Club.
    9. A participant’s images should be identified with the letter of the subject followed by an underscore( _ ), followed by the participant’s number; for example: C_125.jpg. This will facilitate organizing images by subject.
    10. Normal digital adjustments – such as, cropping, sharpening, adjustments with the levels and curves tools, correction of dust spots, use of filters, etc. are permitted. Cloning of anything into or out of an image, other than the elimination of dust spots, is not allowed.

    SUBMISSION DEADLINE:

Please e-mail all entries to by 5 p.m. on Sunday, April 3.

Note: Thank you to Denise Willems, Jenny Fowler, Cathy Hood and Jody Lynch for planning this year’s shootout.
