From downtown San Antonio, take 37 North/281 up to 1604, there is no interchange, so exit off of 281, and make a left onto 1604. Follow it to Blanco Rd, and exit Blanco.
Go North on Blanco (away from town) for about 10 miles, turn right at Specht Road for about 2.5 miles. Look for the high horse sign that says “Cibolo Livery Stables.”
Gates open at 5:00pm. Meet for BBQ dinner at 5:30pm under the pavilion. Entry fee for the rodeo is $10.
Items to Photograph:
- Favorite photo of a rodeo event
- Cowboy or cowgirl, on or off a horse
- Longhorn, before or during the rodeo
- Horse, with or without a rider
- Flag (watch for the opening ceremony)
- Sheep, dog or animal other than longhorn or horse (mutton buster competition, calf roping, even mechanical bull with quality)
- Spectator at rodeo or grounds
- Picture of an object on the grounds, ex: sign, mechanical bull, wagon, decorations, etc.
- Night time photo after the rodeo, at the dance, the cantina, night time lights, people milling around, etc.
- Your choice… such as a rodeo clown (who could be a camera club member) another rodeo event shot, a child, PJ shot, etc.
Judging:
Thursday, November 18th at 6:30pm (prior to the normal club meeting) at Lions Field
Bring a 4×6 or a 5×7 print (un-mounted) of your favorite photo from each of the 10 categories. Put your name on the back of the picture. Prints will be displayed by category and a score sheet will be at each category. Anyone who is present can make their selection of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd images for each category. Winners will be announced during the regular meeting. Prints will remain on display during the regular meeting, then each participant will be responsible for collecting their photos prior to leave that evening.
