GSACC Members are invited to join GSACC Flickr Group

GSACC has a new photo gallery online at flickr.com. The new photo gallery is at http://www.flickr.com/photos/gsacc/. Images from August 2010 and images from 2009 are presently available for viewing there. More images from 2010 will be added soon. The Flickr account is free and allows GSACC to upload up to 100 MB of free images each month.

Any club members who wish to sign up for Flickr may do so at www.flickr.com. After signing up, members can visit the GSACC group page. Clicking on “Join This Group” allows members to e-mail a request to join the group. Please make sure to put your full name and state that you are a current member of the club in the “Your Message:” box so we can identify you as a club member.

After your group member request is approved, you may add photos from your own Flickr gallery to the GSACC “pool” of photos that be used on the GSACC web site.

The GSACC Flickr page is integrated into the GSACC web site, so images from Flickr can be displayed on our site. Since the photos are stored on Flickr, photo files won’t fill our web site’s server space.

There is a link to GSACC’s Flickr gallery on gsacc.org. Additionally, we also still have photos displayed on a gallery page on gsacc.org.

Dick Boone participating in Bike MS: Valero 2010 Alamo Ride to the River

GSACC member and Lions Field Camera Club president Dick Boone is preparing to ride his bicycle for a good cause. Dick is planning to ride in Bike MS: Valero 2010 Alamo Ride to the River. The ride will take place on October 9-10.

The Bike MS web site is http://www.nationalmssociety.org/chapters/valero2010/index.aspx. The web site states: “Bike MS: Valero 2010 Alamo Ride to the River, presented by H-E-B, is a premiere two-day fundraising, bicycling event. The ride is a fully supported event featuring breakpoints every 8 to 12 miles, SAG vans (Support and Gear) and a scenic route with lots of smooth road surfaces, numerous celebrations throughout the weekend and an indoor air-conditioned finish! Whether you are riding for the first time or for the 21st time, you will enjoy this unique cycling experience. Each participant is required to pay the registration fee plus the fundraising minimum of $300 by November 10.” Registration costs $30-60, depending on the registration date. The ride is a fundraising event to benefit the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

A flyer at canyonlakebicycleshop.com states that ride festivities will start with an expo at the Alamodome on October 8. The expo will include rider packet pick-up, a team jersey contest, health and wellness vendors, bike shops, event sponsor booths and giveaways.

On the first day of riding, participants can choose one of three routes, ranging from 50-100 miles. Day two features a 60-mile route. Routes on the first day will take riders through LaVernia, Seguin and New Braunfels. Sunday’s finish line is at the Alamodome.

For more information, or to make donations, contact Dick Boone at .

    GOOD LUCK, DICK!

    GSACC is now on Flickr

We are happy to announce our very own GSACC Flickr page. We will be setting up the GSACC Member Flickr Group exclusively for our members to add their own photos to the group and showcase their photography portfolio.

We have also added Flickr photo gallery for each competition. Please check out the latest August Competition results for gallery example. We will be working on posting previous competition photos in the next month or so.

Stay tuned for more Flickr updates.
