2009 Fall field trip winners announced

Jenny Fowler placed first in GSACC’s October scavenger hunt in Comfort with 419 points. Cathy Hood placed second with 405 points, and Denise Willems was third with 401 points.

This contest featured two parts. The first was a “spooky subject” list with 10 subjects. The second part was a “spooky knowledge” list. Participants had to accurately answer Halloween trivia questions in order to photograph the correct subjects for this portion of the contest.

One item on the “spooky subject” list was “car/truck from the car show.” However, the car show did not start as planned. This item was replaced by the photographer’s image of choice.

There were 11 participants in the fall scavenger hunt. Thank you to Jenny Fowler and Tim Kirkland for organizing this contest!

Projected Images category changes for 2010

Starting this year, GSACC has eight projected image categories instead of six. This is our new category list, with changes in bold:

    1. Pictorial Slides
    2. Pictorial Digital
    3. Nature Slides
    4. Nature Digital
    5. Photojournalism Slides
    6. Photojournalism Digital

    7. Assignment Slides
    8. Assignment Digital Images

Previously, slides and projected images were judged together in Nature and Photojournalism. Beginning this year, Gulf States is no longer accepting slides.

Please be aware that GSACC is still accepting slides. A few members have said that they thought we were discontinuing slides. We can no longer forward slides to Gulf States. However, slides may be converted to digital images. Those images may then be forwarded to Gulf States. So, your slides are still needed in GSACC competitions!
